YOGA WITH SHANA
GRC Director Shana Smith offers weekly yoga classes through the Ohana Fitness Collective. To register, go to ohanafitnesscollective.com.
Sundays, 10am EST:
Pranayama, Meditation, and Intention
Start your week with turning inward, realigning your breath and body with universal consciousness and setting your intention for the week ahead. Shana will guide you through several forms of pranayama, or breath control techniques, with periods of guided and silent meditation in between. By setting an intention (or two) for the week ahead, we will merge the inner practice of meditation and pranayama with the outer manifestation of effecting wholesome changes in our lives and in the world.
Wednesdays, 3:30pm EST:
"Chair"ismatic Yoga with Shana
Enjoy an hour of all-levels Chair Yoga with Shana Smith, known for her "chair"ful personality and very bad puns. Chair yoga is ideal for all yogis, and Shana teaches the class in such a way that you can modify your poses to suit your body, using the support and extra leverage of your chair. If you have mobility limitations or injuries, the chair is ideal for providing support. If you seek to deepen your poses, the chair is a fabulous tool to assist. Please use a solid, armless chair that has a sturdy back support. Also needed are a strap (a cloth belt, long scarf, or rolled up towel will also do), a bottle of water, and a willingness to meet yourself with love and compassion.
Fridays, 5:30pm EST:
Zen Flow with Shana
Zen and Yoga merge in this hour long flow class for all levels. In addition to being a certified yoga teacher, Shana is a senior Zen student and mindfulness teacher, and brings the principles of Zen into this easy-to-follow flow class. The primary focus is on bringing movement in alignment with breath, in a slower vinyasa style that encourages self-compassion and attunement to the present moment while also honing in on strength, balance, and flexibility.
